The forum will consist of a series of keynote speeches and panel debates, combined with a variety of workshops and informal discussions, as well as a unique film screening of Age of Stupid. We will also give individuals a chance to turn their ideas for social enterprises into reality by holding a pitching session to win up to £1000 at the end of the conference!
Wal-Mart’s CEO Lee Scott claims that sustainability is ‘the single biggest business opportunity of the twenty-first century’.
Bill Gates has called for a "creative capitalism" that uses market forces to address poor-country needs.
Social enterprise harnesses the power of business to bring about great social change. Gordon Brown recently commented that “social enterprise is the new British business success story” with over 55,000 social enterprises in the UK, with a combined turnover of £27bn per year.
We are seeing new career opportunities in a different kind of business that is not solely focused on financial goals but is driven by values and uses imagination and innovation to solve the most urgent global problems that we currently face, from climate change to global poverty.
In this context, is the current financial chaos an economic disaster or a catalyst for change?
