Here is a sample of some of the places in Oxford which sell organic, fairtrade, and environmentally products.

Many of the larger and more well-known stores now stock a range of fairtrade and organic goods, so prices are competitive and it shouldn't be difficult of find what you are looking for!

Products include: food stuffs, plants/flowers, gifts, clothes, cards, domestic cleaning products, alcohol and even toiletries! All these products can be bought in a version that is either organic, fairtrade, or sustainable and therefore environmentally friendly.

 

  • Fairtrade at St Michaels - on Cornmarket (by the Saxon tower near Waterstones). 10am-5pm Monday to Saturday. 10% student discount.
  • Oxfam shops on Broad Street and the Cowley Road
  • Marks and Spencers now sells a range of fair trade cotton t-shirts, and is located on Queen's Street
  • Holland Barrett offers an extensive variety of organic products including coffee alternatives, cereals, confectionary, savoury and sweet biscuits, dried fruits, nuts and teas. There are branches in the Covered Market and in the Westgate Shopping Centre
  • Covered Market hosts an array of local products including Hayman's Fishery, a local butcher and a huge fruit and veg stall.
  • Boots can be found on High Street, and now sells shower gels, soaps and cosmetics that have been produced in a way that reduces the environmental impact of manufacturing, as well as using packaging that is also environmentally friendly.
  • Uhuru Wholefoods is situated on Cowley Road and sells organic wholefoods, fairtrade goods and health products. It also offers domestic products that have less of an impact on the environment.
  • Farmers' Markets take place every Wednesday on Gloucester Green and sell an array of locally produced fruit, veg, cheeses, meats, fish, breads and more
