CRB Checks

Oxford Hub volunteers who wish to work with children or vulnerable adults may be asked to undertake a CRB check.
 

In some cases you will not be able to undertake your volunteering until the CRB has been successfully returned.  This can often take between 4 and 8 weeks, so it is important that you complete yours as soon as you are able.

The CRB check simply checks if an individual has a criminal record.  For more information you can visit http://www.crb.gov.uk/

If you do have a criminal record this does not mean you will not be allowed to volunteer. Each case will be reviewed on an individual bases to ensure all volunteering is appropriate.

To obtain your CRB you will usually be required to go directly though the organisation you are volunteering with.  If this is not the case you can get a CRB through OUSU. To do this, go to the OUSU building in Bond Square between 10 – 4:30 Monday or Friday.  Ask for the lovely Imogen Richardson at reception and she will be able to support you through the process.

If you already have an Advanced CRB Check from 2008 onwards this can be used at the discretion of our partner organisations.  Please bring it to Oxford Hub to be checked.

To get your CRB you need to fill in a form and provide three specific forms of identification

There are 2 categories of ID that need to be supplied
You will need one from Group 1 plus any two from Groups 1 or 2.

Group 1

-Passport
-EU National Identity Card
-Driving Licence (UK) (Full or provisional)
-Birth Certificate (UK)
-HM Forces ID Card (UK)   

Group 2  - Address identification – You will need to bring one of the following with your term time address and one with your home address (if applicable).

-Battels slip
-Bank/Building Society Statement
-Utility Bill - electricity, gas, water, telephone – including mobile phone -contract/bill
-Exam Certificate.
-TV Licence
-Addressed Payslip
-Credit Card Statement
-P45/P60 Statement (UK)
-National Insurance Card (UK)
-Store Card Statement
-NHS Card (UK)
-Work Permit/Visa  (UK)   
-CRB Disclosure Certificate

- If you do not have anything for your College address you can request address conformation from your college and this will be accepted.

*Documentation should be less than three months old and should be issued within the past 12 months
