The Week - The definitive guide to what's on at Oxford - Hilary Term Week 2

Date:
Sunday, 25 January 2009 - Sunday, 1 February 2009

Highlights this Week: OxFID Conference -  Oxford Forum for International Development, Creative Solutions to Urgent Problems

Dear  Oxford Hub Member,

Apologieas for sending out The Week a little bit later than normal. Like many of you I was at a JCR meeting last night discussing the Gaza crisis.  As the crisis and debate continue it is important to remember that there are many opportunities for private, positive action. This can be as simple as making a donation or writing an email. There are many humanitarian groups that you can support, regardless of your own beliefs on the crisis, to help innocent victims of the conflict.

Moving on, it’s second week, and before you’re completely settled down into your work routine, why not pencil in a few charitable events too?

On 7th and 8th February OxFID is hosting its annual International Development Forum and the theme for this year is ‘Creative Solutions to Urgent Problems’. OxFID is the UK’s highest profile student International Development event - open to people with all levels of knowledge it is THE place to go for any students who are interested in development issues. £10 early-bird tickets are still available until midnight tonight, so to save yourself some money buy your tickets now!

This week is once again jam packed with events and opportunities. With a Social Enterprise Fair, 9 talks, 2 opportunities to go abroad, 2 fundraising events and 5 volunteering placements, there should be enough to keep you busy for the rest of this week at least.

Hub love,
Jake
